What the program is

The Medicine and Sport doctoral programme at the University of Tartu is a research-based PhD programme within the Faculty of Medicine. It combines four specialisations: Medicine, Pharmacy, Exercise and Sport Sciences, and Neurosciences. The programme develops advanced research and development skills and prepares doctoral researchers for careers in academia, research institutions, and specialist roles outside academia.

The programme is a doctoral-level programme taught in Estonian and English, with a duration of 4 years (240 ECTS) and is based in Tartu. The programme consists of a Research and Development module worth 210 ECTS and a Study module worth 30 ECTS. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification and meet the university’s English language proficiency requirements. Applicants must submit a doctoral thesis project and CV and, if assessed positively, attend an admission interview.
