American Studies

The Bachelor of Arts in American Studies is a full-time undergraduate program based in Mainz and taught in English. American Studies can be studied as a core or minor subject within the two-subject Bachelor of Arts program. The field combines American Studies, Cultural Studies, and General Literary Studies, with a focus on cultural studies, literary studies, communication, and history. The standard period of study is 6 semesters, with admission available for both the Summer and Winter Semesters.

Study Structure and Admission

The program has no admission restriction but requires a mandatory Practical Language Entrance Test at CEFR C1 level. Equivalent English certificates may be accepted, including Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English with a minimum grade C, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English with a minimum grade C, or TOEFL. Test results must not be more than two years old.
