Overview and Admission

The Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Culture at Mainz University is a 6-semester undergraduate programme offered as an international course in full-time study. It is available in both the Summer and Winter Semesters and can be studied as a core or subsidiary subject within the dual-subject Bachelor of Arts degree. The programme covers English Studies, Cultural Studies, and General Literary Studies, with a focus on the literature and culture of Great Britain and Ireland, New Literatures in English, Contemporary Drama, Contemporary Poetry, and British Studies. Admission is without restriction.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must complete a Practical Language Entrance Test at C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference. Equivalent English certificates may be accepted, including Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English with a minimum grade C, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English with a minimum grade C, or TOEFL. Test results must not be more than two years old.
