The Bachelor of Arts in English Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt is a 6-semester undergraduate programme offered full time in both the Summer and Winter Semesters. The programme covers English Literature, English Social History, Linguistics, English Cultural History, English Linguistics, Modern English-Language Literature and Cultures, and the history of culture, ideas, and social science in Great Britain and other English-speaking countries. The degree can be studied as either a major or minor subject. Admission is without restriction, subject to the required English proficiency assessment.
Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency at B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Proof can be provided by passing the English test conducted by the IEAS twice a year, through the grade of the higher education entrance qualification, or through another standardised English test. The programme is taught mainly in English, with German as a further language.
