Programme Overview

The Diplomacy and International Relations Master’s programme at Vytautas Magnus University focuses on analysing and evaluating developments in international relations, understanding the causes of international events, and developing advanced knowledge of diplomacy and global affairs. The programme is conducted entirely in English and includes diplomatic English vocabulary, international organisations, models of international relations, crises, security policy, and the influence of the global economy. Students can choose elective subjects covering areas such as migration policy, orientalism and occidentalism, human rights, religion and politics in the global world, and may also study diplomatic French.

Admission and Career Opportunities

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Humanities, or another Social Science field. Applicants without a Political Science undergraduate degree must have 18 credits in Political Science, with complementary studies available for students who lack the required prerequisite subjects. A minimum 60% CGPA is required, and the admission score is calculated from the motivation letter, bachelor’s diploma supplement grades, and final bachelor’s thesis grade, with a minimum qualifying score of 5.4. Graduates can pursue careers in government institutions, foreign ministries, diplomatic, trade and cultural missions, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, higher education and research institutions, and internationally oriented businesses, or continue to doctoral studies in political science.
