About the Program

The Master’s program in Animal and Human Interaction at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences focuses on the scientific, practical, and ethical aspects of human-animal relationships. Students apply modern knowledge, methods, and technologies to animal and human interaction, examine challenges associated with changing human-animal relationships, and develop skills to independently analyze issues related to therapeutic animals and evaluate research outcomes. The program covers scientific research methodology, animal genetic resources and genomic selection, specialized animal nutrition, organizational psychology, the use of assisting animals in society, and research work.

Program Structure and Career Opportunities

The full-time program lasts 1.5 years. The first year includes coursework, electives, and research work, while the second year is dedicated to the final thesis. Graduates can pursue careers in hippotherapy and canine therapy centers, animal shelters, animal welfare, animal-assisted activities, the State Border Guard Service, breeding companies, consulting and public services, regional municipalities, and insurance companies. The program also provides opportunities for Erasmus+ study abroad, practical experience with partner organizations and companies, and further PhD study.
