About the Program

The Master’s program in Medicinal Chemistry at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences is a joint study program conducted with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). It combines chemistry, biology, pharmacy, and related sciences to prepare students for drug discovery and development. The program provides knowledge of pharmaceutical creation, development, production, quality control, and distribution, while developing research skills for work in high-tech scientific and industrial companies, pharmaceutical laboratories, and biotechnology organizations.

Program Structure and Specializations

The full-time program lasts 2 years. In the first year, students study organic chemistry, spectroscopy, chromatography, cell biology, pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical development, pharmacology, molecular biology, and research. The second year includes bioactive natural materials extraction, electives, research projects, and the Master’s final project. Students can specialize in Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry or Biomedicinal Chemistry and may participate in Erasmus+ exchange opportunities. Graduates can pursue research, technological, expert, consulting, and managerial roles in chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies and scientific laboratories, or continue to PhD studies.
