The Sociology doctoral programme at the Lithuanian Centre For Social Sciences offers advanced research training for applicants interested in conducting independent sociological research and developing a doctoral dissertation. Admission to the state-funded PhD studies is conducted through an annual open competition.
Applicants are expected to hold a Master’s degree or equivalent higher education qualification and have research experience and participation in research activities. Before applying, candidates are encouraged to review the available PhD research topics and supervisors and consult a potential supervisor if they have not yet selected a dissertation topic.
Applicants must submit a Master’s degree diploma or equivalent qualification, recognition documentation for foreign qualifications, two recent recommendation letters from sociology scholars with at least one recommendation from a researcher in Lithuania, a signed CV, publication list and articles, a research project, and other required documents.
English proficiency should correspond to B2–C2. Applicants from non-EU countries must provide evidence of at least B2 English, or alternatively an IELTS score of 6.5 or another internationally recognised English-language test.
