What the program is

The Doctoral programme in Philosophy at European Humanities University (EHU) was launched together with Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas and the Lithuanian Cultural Research Institute in Vilnius. It combines the European historical and philosophical tradition with an interdisciplinary approach to complex contemporary issues affecting individuals and society.

Study focus and structure

Doctoral dissertation research focuses on two main areas: the impact of modern technologies on social practices and identity, and social and ethical transformations in the age of globalization. Full-time studies take 4 years, while part-time studies take 6 years. During the first two years, doctoral students must earn at least 30 ECTS through examinations. The programme includes subjects such as media theory, phenomenological philosophy, social philosophy and ethics, biotechnological ethics, poststructuralism, feminism and philosophy, and visual studies. The degree awarded is Doctor of Humanities.
