The Linguistics (Baltic Linguistics) Master’s specialisation at Vilnius University is designed to train highly qualified specialists in Baltic Linguistics, with a focus on both synchronic and diachronic linguistics, interdisciplinary research methods, and methodological strategies. Students develop the ability to analyse and address theoretical and practical questions related to language and society, education, and changing cultural and social identity. The programme provides knowledge of Lithuanian, Latvian, and Prussian languages, their sources and development within the Indo-European language family, as well as their relationships with other languages of the region.

Study and Admission Information

Students learn to evaluate current and ongoing research in Baltic Linguistics and develop skills in applying modern technologies to Baltic-language materials. Students who study abroad during the third semester and fulfil the requirements of the foreign university may have the opportunity to receive a double diploma from Vilnius University and the University of Latvia. The programme is a 2-year full-time Master’s degree with tuition of €4,837 per year for both EU and non-EU citizens. The listed start date is September 1, with an application deadline of July 1.
