Biomedical Sciences: Medical Biology is a Master of Science programme for students interested in developing in-depth fundamental knowledge of the biochemical and molecular biological foundations of medical phenomena. The programme is suited to students who are interested in understanding the mechanisms of life, enjoy experimental research, and want to specialise in one or more areas of medical biology.

The programme offers several tracks, including Medical Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Cell Biology and Advanced Microscopy, Infection and Immunity, Developmental and Therapeutic Biology, Experimental Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Cardiovascular Sciences. At the University of Amsterdam, the programme is closely affiliated with the Amsterdam Academic Medical Center (AMC-UvA), Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, Netherlands Cancer Institute, and Sanquin Blood Supply Foundation, providing access to a broad range of expertise and internship opportunities. The programme comprises 120 ECTS credits and is taught in English.
