The Bachelor of Science in Astronomy at the University of Groningen is an English-taught programme focused on understanding the physical processes behind the Universe, with a strong foundation in physics and mathematics. Students explore topics including stars, galaxies, planetary systems, cosmic origins, and astronomical instruments while engaging with astronomical research.

Program Details

The programme takes 3 years and comprises 180 ECTS credits. Students have the option to switch to Applied Physics or Applied Mathematics during their first semester. The programme is accredited by NVAO. For 2026/2027, tuition is €2,694 per year for EU/EEA students, €19,800 per year for non-EU/EEA students, and €14,000 per year under the institutional fee. The listed intakes are September 2027 and September 2028, with application deadlines of May 1 of the respective year for both EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA applicants.
