What the program is

The Master of Science programme in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education is designed for early- and mid-career water professionals seeking knowledge and skills to address water-related challenges and develop their careers in the water sector or related organisations. The programme covers drinking water, sanitation, water resources, water for food and energy, ecosystem health, water management and governance, coastal processes, hydrology, climate-related hazards and risks, and river engineering.

Study structure and requirements

The programme is taught in English, carries 68 ECTS credits, and has a duration of 11 months. Students can customise their study trajectory according to their professional needs by deepening disciplinary knowledge or broadening their expertise into related water fields. Thematic areas include Water Hazards, Risks and Climate; Water and Health; Water, Food and Energy; and Water Resources and Ecosystem Health, with disciplinary profiles covering engineering sciences, governance and management, environment, sanitation, and digital innovation and hydroinformatics. The listed language requirements are IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 65 paper-based, TOEFL 80 internet-based, or TOEIC 960. Tuition for both EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA students is €20,700 for 2026/2027.
