Communication and Information Studies: Dialogue, Health and Society is a one-year Master of Arts programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam focusing on the theoretical and practical role of language in health communication and medical care. The programme examines how language and dialogue function in real-world contexts, including doctor-patient interactions, online vaccination debates, and conversations about sustainable and healthy eating.
The programme is taught in English and combines advanced theoretical knowledge with practical experience. Students apply their knowledge during an internship as a dialogue specialist, with possible settings including the WHO, municipal health departments and NGOs. The programme offers September intakes in 2027, 2028 and 2029.
