The Mathematics programme at the University of Groningen is a three-year, English-taught Bachelor of Science programme focused on theoretical mathematics, abstract structures, logical reasoning, and mathematical problem-solving. Students build strong foundations in algebra, topology, analysis, and probability theory while developing advanced skills in mathematical proofs and logical reasoning.
The programme explores topics including number theory, topology, dynamical systems theory, and cryptography. During the first year, students take courses shared with Applied Mathematics students, providing an opportunity to explore both fields before choosing their direction. The programme is taught in an international classroom with students and lecturers from around the world.
