Description:
Electronics and Photonics is a full-time, second-cycle engineering study programme offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Taught in English, the programme has a standard duration of two years and awards the academic degree inžinier (Ing.). It combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills in electronics and photonics, preparing students to address scientific and engineering challenges through systematic and interdisciplinary approaches.
The programme covers advanced areas such as nanoelectronics, smart sensors, organic electronics, the Internet of Things (IoT), microsystems, system-on-chip electronics, signal processing, and wireless and portable electronic devices. Students develop skills in electronic system design, analysis, diagnostics, operation, technical documentation, research and development, and collaborative engineering projects. Graduates can pursue careers as electrical engineering technologists, measuring systems designers, materials technologists, quality control specialists, research and development engineers, production managers and electronic equipment testing technicians. Employment opportunities span industry, education, research, transportation, healthcare, and public and private organisations. Graduates may also continue to doctoral studies in Electronics and Photonics or related fields. The planned student capacity is 10 for 2025/2026 and 15 for 2026/2027.
