Nuclear and Physical Engineering is a full-time, second-cycle engineering study programme offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The programme is taught in English, has a standard duration of two years, and awards the academic degree inžinier (Ing.). It focuses on engineering physics, nuclear energy, material properties and the physical processes involved in nuclear reactor operation.
Students develop knowledge of the mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic and optical properties of materials, as well as nuclear reactor physics, neutronics, operational safety, measurement, regulation, dosimetry and radioactive waste disposal. The programme prepares graduates to analyse physical processes, understand nuclear reactor systems and address practical challenges in industrial and technological environments. Career opportunities include roles such as electrical engineer, materials technologist, process engineer, nuclear plant operator, radiation protection technician, nuclear safety inspector, radioactive waste disposal technician and nuclear facility decommissioning technologist. Graduates may work in nuclear energy, advanced materials, electrical engineering, healthcare, environmental protection, research and technology. The programme also provides a foundation for further doctoral studies in physical engineering or nuclear energy.
