Description:
Physical Engineering is a full-time doctoral programme offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia. The programme has a standard duration of three years and is taught in English. It focuses on advanced physical engineering, particularly material physics, material analysis and modification, spectroscopy, and computer simulations of physical processes in different materials and physical environments. Students develop a strong understanding of material properties, structural characteristics, mathematical and physical modelling, and the application of computational tools to scientific research. The programme emphasizes original research, innovative material technologies, and contributions to the development of physical engineering through scientific publications and experimental investigations.
The programme develops advanced skills in scientific hypothesis formulation, experimental data analysis, computer simulation, material characterization, and the development of new methods for material modification. Graduates learn to design and implement research procedures, collaborate with international research institutions, and lead scientific and development teams. Career opportunities include research institutes, university laboratories, academic institutions, material science organizations, applied physics, electrical engineering research, and high-technology industries. Potential professional roles include research and development specialist, physicist, physical chemist, university lecturer, and specialist in advanced materials research. The planned student capacity for the 2026/2027 academic year is four students. The source states that the English-language programme has not yet produced graduates.
