Job Description

Waterways of France (VNF) is recruiting an Environmental Maintenance and Dependency Intervention Team Agent (IDEE) M/F at Esch Island Lock in Pont-à-Mousson, Grand Est. The position is part of the IDEE team within the VNF Moselle large gauge route engineering and maintenance department and is primarily field-based, with activities carried out using river-based resources and equipment.

Main duties include maintaining and reinstalling navigation markers and signage, helping locate and recover wrecks and debris jams, vegetation felling, interventions during ice-breaking periods, maintenance of floating equipment, and participation in UTI Moselle on-call duties for winter road maintenance and reinforcement. The role also includes participating in annual navigation stoppage work and applying safety and prevention guidelines.

The position is open to civil servants in category C. Teamwork, communication, rigor, reporting, and respect for ethical rules are essential. Practical experience in landscaping and/or forestry work, including small equipment use and maintenance, is relevant. Knowledge of waterway structures, machinery operation, office tools, and specific qualifications such as a boat licence or chainsaw operation may be required or acquired through training.
