The Master of Arts in American Studies at Eberhard Karls University Tübingen is a full-time, four-semester graduate program based in Tübingen. The interdisciplinary curriculum covers American Studies, Media Studies, and General Linguistic Science, with a focus on American literature and culture, interdisciplinary study, research, and practical experience. Students explore topics ranging from the colonial history and early literary culture of the Americas to contemporary issues involving race, class, gender, religion, ethnicity, and regional studies. The program combines theoretical foundations with collaborative and independent research projects and includes contributions from guest professors from international universities.
The program is offered in English, with German as an additional language of instruction. Admission is without restriction, and the program has Summer and Winter semester intakes. For Winter Semester, the application period for Germans and inhabitants is 04/01/ – 09/15/, while international EU and non-EU deadlines are marked as expired. Tuition for international students is €1,500 per semester, while a second degree course costs €650 per semester.
