Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Animation and Game at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt is an international, practice-oriented program focused on animation, games, digital media, technology, art, and design. The interdisciplinary and project-based program is taught in English and offers two specialization pathways: Technology, covering game engines, game design, programming, technical art, software development, real-time graphics, generative AI, and procedural asset generation; and Art and Design, focusing on animation, game design, digital and technical art, narrative design, cinematography, and visual development.

Study Details & Requirements

The program is a 7-semester, full-time course beginning in the winter semester and includes project-based learning, an internship semester, and the option of a study-abroad semester instead of the internship. The program has a selection procedure/qualifying examination, including an aptitude test and evidence of English proficiency. The program is accredited, and no tuition fees are charged in Hesse. Graduates can pursue careers such as game or tool programmer, game designer, technical artist, animation artist, digital artist, visual effects artist, narrative designer, or creative producer.
