What the Program Is

The Applied Life Science Technologies (AST) program at Ansbach University of Applied Sciences is a full-time Bachelor of Science degree combining biotechnology, biomedical engineering, medical technology, and engineering. The program covers industrial biotechnology, biomedical engineering, scientific and engineering fundamentals, sustainability, digitalization, and personalized medicine. Students learn to develop biotechnological processes, sustainable production methods, and technical solutions for medical applications.

Study Structure and Requirements

The program lasts 8 semesters and starts in the Summer Semester. The first semester uses a blended learning format, while from the second semester onward, lectures are held in person in Ansbach. Teaching is in English during the first three semesters and German from the fourth semester onward, with German language learning integrated throughout the program. Admission requires English B2, demonstrated by IELTS 6.0 or better or TOEFL 84 or better, as well as a German university entrance qualification. Tuition is €1,000 per semester for non-EU citizens. The seventh semester is a practical study semester in a company or research institution.
