What the Program Is

The Applied Linguistics program at TU Dortmund University is a full-time Bachelor of Arts degree focused on linguistics, intercultural studies, and comparative language studies. The program is bilingual in German and English, with a focus on English/American Studies and German Studies. Students develop skills in professional and context-sensitive communication, linguistic analysis, intercultural communication, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. The program also includes practical project work, a mandatory four-week internship, and a semester abroad at a university where instruction is conducted in English.

Study Structure and Requirements

Admission is locally restricted, with special enrolment requirements for the program. An interest in German and English is considered a basic requirement, while good to very good English skills at B2 level are recommended.
