What the Program Is

The Applied Literature and Cultural Studies program at TU Dortmund University is a full-time Bachelor of Arts degree focusing on literature, language, media, culture, interculturality, and comparative literary studies. Students explore German and English-language literature and cultural expressions, global and intercultural perspectives, media analysis, gender issues, and interdisciplinary approaches. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical application through project work, including collaboration in international teams, and offers opportunities for careers in areas such as cultural management, communication, and media.

Study Structure and Requirements

The program takes 7 semesters and starts in the Winter Semester. It is taught bilingually in German and English and offers 21 possible complementary subjects, along with a practical phase and study-abroad component. Admission is locally restricted (NC), with separate enrolment and language-certificate requirements for the Bachelor’s program. There are no course fees, although students must pay a semester fee for registration and re-registration.
