Archaeology

The Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam explores the significance of archaeological artefacts and what archaeological remains can reveal about past cultures and the people who used them. The programme combines classroom-based research with practical fieldwork and focuses on archaeological heritage and its relevance to contemporary society. Students study archaeological cultures across Europe, including the Mediterranean, Central and Western Europe.

Programme Details

The three-year, 180-ECTS programme is taught in English and combines academic study with fieldwork placements in the Netherlands, Italy and Greece. Students can specialise in periods and geographical areas according to their interests, with lectures held in central Amsterdam.
