Overview and Admission

The Bachelor of Arts in English/American Language and Literature at the University of Erfurt is a 6-semester undergraduate programme offered in both part-time and full-time formats. It is available in the Winter Semester only and covers English Studies, American Studies, and English (Teaching Degree). Admission is without restriction. Combination with Literary Studies is excluded.

Admission and Study Structure

Students pursuing teacher training acquire subject-specific basic knowledge in English and must study a second Bachelor’s discipline relevant to the intended teaching qualification. Depending on the teaching qualification, this may include Primary Education, Special Education and Inclusion Education, or a vocational subject. The main language of instruction is English, with German as a further language.
