Contemporary Literature and Arts: Cultural Interventions and Social Justice is a Master’s specialisation at Maastricht University that examines 21st-century literature and arts from an interdisciplinary humanities perspective. The programme explores how contemporary cultural works engage with social justice issues, including racial injustice, class and gender inequalities, climate justice, migrant and refugee rights, discrimination of LGBTQ people, ageism, and ableism. Students critically examine how literature and arts respond to ethical and societal challenges and consider how the humanities can contribute to current global debates.
