The DDM Economic Development and Growth (MEDEG) is a two-year double degree Master’s programme offered through study in Groningen, Netherlands, and Lund, Sweden. The programme focuses on economic development, sustainability, innovation, and the complexities of developing economies. Students develop theoretical and quantitative tools for understanding key debates in economics and other social sciences, together with specialised knowledge of the contexts, institutions, and historical legacies that shape development issues.
The programme is taught in English, lasts 2 years, and comprises 120 ECTS. Students first study the MSc International Economics and Sustainable Development in Groningen and can apply to continue their studies at Lund University in Sweden, beginning the Lund component directly after their Groningen studies. Tuition for 2026/2027 is €2,694 per year for EU/EEA students, €22,200 per year for Non-EU/EEA students, and €21,200 per year at the institutional rate. The programme is accredited by NVAO.
