What the program is

The Master’s specialisation Governance of Innovation at Maastricht University focuses on the rapid emergence of new technologies and the challenges involved in integrating them into society. It develops a systemic understanding of the economic, social and political actors and structures affected by technological change, while examining ways to maximise benefits and minimise social costs.

Study structure and requirements

The programme is taught in English and has a duration of 1 year, comprising 60 ECTS credits. It covers the economic fundamentals of innovation, policy instruments, appropriate policy responses and the social impacts of new technologies. Theory is combined with practical learning, including opportunities to learn from policymakers and staff from international organisations, as well as possible field trips.
