The Master of Opera is an intensive two-year Master of Music programme offered through the Dutch National Opera Academy (DNOA), a collaboration between the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. The programme provides comprehensive training for aspiring opera artists, integrating singing, acting and physicality to develop technically assured and artistically credible performers.
The programme combines individual studies with rehearsals and fully staged productions, giving students experience similar to professional opera schedules. Students work with international faculty, guest teachers and fellow performers while preparing for an international career. They are also required to undertake a research project relevant to their practice as an opera singer. Each year, six new students can join the academy, with a maximum of twelve students across the two-year programme. The programme carries 120 ECTS credits and is taught in English.
