The Mathematics and Computer Science doctoral programme at the University of Tartu is a research-focused PhD programme with two specialisations: Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science. Mathematical Sciences covers areas such as algebra, functional analysis, equations, geometry and topology, actuarial and financial engineering, statistics, probability theory, and mathematical didactics. Doctoral researchers follow an individual research plan and complete 30 ECTS of additional studies, including specialist knowledge and transferable skills training, before writing and publicly defending an original doctoral thesis. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification and meet the university’s English language proficiency requirements.
