Natural and Synthetic Polymers is a full-time, second-cycle engineering study programme offered by the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The programme focuses on Chemical Engineering and Technology, including polymer chemistry, synthesis and processing of polymers, material structure and properties, product quality assessment, and polymer recycling. Students develop an understanding of how natural and synthetic polymers are produced, processed, tested, and applied across different industries. The standard duration is 2 years, the teaching language is English, and graduates receive the academic degree inžinier (Ing.).
Students develop skills in polymer characterization, experimental data analysis, quality control, materials testing, research and development, and the improvement of production technologies. The programme addresses applications across plastics and rubber manufacturing, synthetic fibres and textiles, wood processing, pulp and paper production, printing, packaging, and recycling. Graduates can pursue careers as polymer production and processing technologists, chemical technologists, quality management specialists, research and development professionals, and production managers. The programme also prepares graduates to contribute to the development of new materials, environmentally responsible processing methods, and polymer recycling initiatives. Further doctoral studies are also possible.
