About the Optics, Lasers and Optical Spectroscopy Programme

The Master’s programme in Optics, Lasers and Optical Spectroscopy at Comenius University Bratislava is offered by the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. It focuses on laser physics, optical spectroscopy, experimental physics, and the application of these disciplines to other scientific fields. Students gain experience in ultrasensitive optical spectroscopy techniques, including CRDS, CEAS, and LIBS, covering wavelengths from the vacuum ultraviolet to the near-infrared region.

Research Applications and Career Opportunities

The programme explores applications of lasers and optical spectroscopy in telecommunications, optoelectronics, microelectronics, nanotechnology, environmental analysis, medicine, criminology, civil defence, and the detection of trace substances. Graduates can pursue basic and applied research at universities, research institutes, and other scientific centres. The programme cooperates with the International Laser Centre in Bratislava and the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
