Philosophy-Doctoral at European Humanities University

What the program is

The Doctorate in Philosophy at European Humanities University (EHU) is a joint doctoral programme launched in partnership with Vytautas Magnus University and the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute. It combines the European historical philosophical tradition with an interdisciplinary approach to contemporary social and philosophical issues. The main doctoral research areas focus on the impact of new technologies on social practices and identity, as well as social and ethical transformations in the era of globalization.

Study structure and research focus

The programme lasts 4 years and includes doctoral examinations, academic publications, conferences, and preparation and defence of a doctoral dissertation. During the first two years, students must complete at least 30 ECTS, with each course worth 6 ECTS. Available subjects include contemporary social philosophy and ethics, poststructuralism, phenomenological philosophy, media theory, feminism and philosophy, biotechnological ethics, and visual studies. The programme awards a PhD in Humanities after successful dissertation defence.

Tuition & language

Tuition is €3,400 for both EU and non-EU citizens. Languages of instruction are Russian and English.

Admission requirements

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent, submit two recommendations from individuals holding a PhD in Philosophy, a signed CV, a list and copies of scientific publications, and a research project.
