The Master’s in Theology and Religious Studies: Peace, Trauma and Religion at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam explores knowledge, skills and practical experience relevant to the interdisciplinary field of peace and conflict studies. The programme examines the complex relationship between religion, violent conflict, non-violent conflict resolution, transitional justice and reconciliation.
Students critically reflect on these issues through research, education and practical application, considering reconciliation between individuals, groups, societies and nations as well as relationships with nature. The programme connects contemporary societal needs and questions with multicultural and postcolonial approaches to the study of religion. It is taught in English and consists of 60 ECTS credits over one year.
