bp Job Description
bp is looking for a Software Engineer Tech Lead for a full-time position in Budapest, Hungary. The role is part of bp’s Technology team and focuses on overseeing the development and maintenance of CLAWS, bp’s regulatory reporting system, while contributing to the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of its technology platform.
The Tech Lead will design backend components, services, platforms, and RESTful APIs, while also supporting front-end component design and integration. Responsibilities include reviewing services and components for improvement opportunities, influencing and delivering the product roadmap, mentoring colleagues, shaping team culture and working practices, and promoting high-quality code, testing, documentation, and traceability. The role also involves working with business users, partners, and the Tech Product Manager on the platform’s evolution and long-term strategy.
Candidates should have extensive IT experience designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and documenting solutions. Strong software-engineering design capabilities and knowledge of techniques such as TDD and BDD are required, along with hands-on experience in C# (.NET Core) or the React ecosystem, TypeScript and JavaScript, database design and SQL Server, and AWS services including ECS with Fargate, SQS/SNS, Lambda, CDK Stack, and CloudWatch.
Requirements
- Extensive IT industry experience designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and documenting solutions
- Experience working with small teams
- Proficiency in software engineering development techniques and best practices such as TDD and BDD
- Strong software engineering design capabilities
- Understanding of computational complexity
- Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in software architecture, delivery, and best practices
- Hands-on experience with C# (.NET Core) or the React ecosystem
- Experience with TypeScript and JavaScript
- Database design knowledge
- SQL Server knowledge
- Experience with AWS services including ECS with Fargate, SQS/SNS, Lambda Functions, CDK Stack, and CloudWatch
- Ability to work closely with business stakeholders, understand requirements, and create a mathematical model
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to present ideas graphically and verbally
- Strong mathematical and numeracy skills
