Job Description
DHL Data & AI is seeking a Data Scientist AI (m/f/d) for its office in Bonn. The role focuses on turning business challenges into practical, scalable AI solutions and supporting the full lifecycle from initial concept through productive implementation.
Responsibilities include working with departments, consulting teams and business stakeholders to analyze processes and develop AI solutions, preparing data landscapes for AI applications, bringing AI functionalities into production, and continuously improving performance, quality and reliability based on KPIs. The position also involves developing prototypes and demos, creating enablement materials, preparing and moderating workshops, and communicating recommendations clearly. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Platform Engineers, Product Managers and experienced AI/ML specialists.
Applicants should have a completed degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or a comparable quantitative or technical field, along with 2–3 years of professional experience in data science or AI. Excellent Python, solid SQL, machine learning, MLOps, backend development, data pipelines, ML/LLM integration, RAG systems, agent frameworks and cloud-platform experience are required. Excellent English and at least B2-level German are also required.
Requirements
- Completed degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, or a comparable quantitative or technical field
- Additional knowledge in economics or management is an advantage
- 2–3 years of professional experience in data science or AI with direct business relevance
- Excellent English skills
- German skills at least at B2 level
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent programming skills in Python
- Solid SQL experience
- Good understanding of software engineering best practices, including versioning, testing and CI/CD
- Experience with backend development and data pipelines
- Experience with productive integration of ML and LLM solutions
- Experience with retrieval and RAG systems
- Experience with agent frameworks and modern AI/LLM solutions
- Solid knowledge of machine learning and productive model implementation
- Experience with PyTorch or scikit-learn
- Experience building MLOps pipelines
- Experience with Prompt Engineering, Prompt Versioning, Agent Tracing and AI Evaluation
- Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP
- Experience with scalable data platforms
