Postdoc Pharmacology/ADME – Preclinical Drug Development

Germany, Munich xPYLORE / Technical University of Munich (TUM) xPYLORE Project

Job Description

xPYLORE is seeking a doctoral-level scientist for a postdoctoral position focused on pharmacology, ADME/PK, toxicology, and preclinical drug development. The project is developing innovative antibiotic candidates for resistant Helicobacter pylori infections, with the role contributing to the evaluation and selection of future preclinical development candidates.

Responsibilities include planning and evaluating preclinical ADME, pharmacokinetic, pharmacology, and safety studies; integrating pharmacology, ADME, PK, and PK/PD data; assessing plasma and metabolic stability, clearance, protein binding, permeability, bioavailability, and tissue exposure; and interpreting concentration-time and exposure-response data. The position also involves supervising external CRO and academic studies, supporting regulatory-relevant documentation, and collaborating across medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, and animal-model teams.

The position is full-time and fixed-term, with flexible working hours. Work is described as on-site, with access to laboratory and office facilities at the TUM research campus in Garching and Munich.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, drug discovery, toxicology, biochemistry, life sciences, or a related field
  • Sound experience in preclinical characterization of small-molecule drug candidates
  • Ideally experience in anti-infectives, antibiotics, or gastrointestinal drug development
  • Excellent knowledge of ADME, pharmacokinetics, and PK/PD analysis
  • Experience interpreting pharmacological study data
  • Knowledge of safety-relevant development aspects such as hERG, CYP interactions, genotoxicity, or metabolite profiling
  • Understanding of drug exposure, dose finding, therapeutic window, NOAEL/MTD/MABEL concepts, and preclinical candidate selection
  • Experience planning, commissioning, or supervising external CRO studies is advantageous
  • Knowledge of modern analytical methods such as LC-MS/MS-based drug or metabolite analytics is advantageous
  • Experience with oral formulation, gastrointestinal pharmacology, infection models, or antibiotic development is advantageous
  • Knowledge of H. pylori is welcome but not mandatory
  • Structured, independent, and team-oriented working style
  • Ability to synthesize complex study data in a decision-oriented manner
  • Excellent communication skills in an interdisciplinary scientific environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Good German language skills are advantageous
