Shadow is advertising a Computer Vision Engineer position for Varjo’s Eye Tracking Team in Helsinki, Finland. Varjo develops enterprise virtual reality and mixed reality solutions used in industrial applications, including pilot and astronaut training, automotive design, and medical research.
The successful candidate will develop and improve machine-learning-driven C++ algorithm pipelines that power eye-tracking features in Varjo’s mixed reality products. The role combines production-grade software engineering, computer vision, applied machine learning, data analysis, and performance optimisation.
Responsibilities include optimising algorithms and models for accuracy and runtime efficiency on resource-constrained hardware, building automated testing and KPI pipelines, analysing model performance, and developing data-processing pipelines for human-collected eye-tracking data. The engineer will work with C++ and Python, contributing across algorithm development, experimentation, tooling, and performance optimisation.
Applicants should have at least five years of professional software engineering experience, strong C++ and Python skills, experience with complex C++ codebases, and practical knowledge of computer vision, machine learning, image processing, or sensor fusion. Experience with embedded hardware optimisation and structured software development processes is also expected. Familiarity with eye tracking, pose tracking, camera hardware, optics, and image acquisition is an advantage.
The company offers an international working environment, a low-hierarchy culture, and opportunities to contribute to advanced virtual and mixed reality technology. Salary and specific working hours have not been provided.
