Job Description

Cologne Intelligence GmbH is seeking a Data Scientist / AI Engineer (f/m/d) to join its Data & AI team in Cologne or Frankfurt am Main. The role combines data science, AI engineering, consulting, and implementation, with a focus on taking AI solutions from initial client requirements and data analysis through system design and production deployment.

Responsibilities include demonstrating the potential of data science and AI to clients, identifying and preparing relevant data relationships, developing tested and operationally viable models, and establishing modern MLOps processes with automated pipelines, model versioning, and prompt versioning. The role also involves code reviews, introducing new tools, and sharing technical knowledge within the team.

The position offers hybrid and remote flexibility, with work from home or the Cologne and Frankfurt offices and occasional assignments throughout Germany. Requirements

  • Master's/Diploma degree with a deep theoretical understanding of complex AI and ML concepts
  • A few years of practical experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI Engineering
  • Python, especially PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy
  • SQL
  • Experience with relational and modern data storage systems
  • Knowledge of classic machine learning and deep learning
  • Familiarity with Azure or AWS
  • Experience with containerization is advantageous
  • Kubernetes experience is advantageous
  • Experience making models available to users, such as with FastAPI or similar frameworks
  • Practical experience with RAG architectures, LLM APIs such as OpenAI/Azure OpenAI, or vector databases
  • Fluent German at C1 level or higher
  • Consulting experience is advantageous
  • MLOps tooling experience such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, CI/CD pipelines for ML workflows, or model monitoring is advantageous
  • Applicants are expected to already live in Germany
