HQP – QS 207 Photovoltaics Space Solar Cells (SpacePV) Integration & Failure Analysis Expert / Scientist / Engineer (m/f/d)

Germany, Bitterfeld-Wolfen Hanwha Q CELLS GmbH

Job Description

Hanwha Q CELLS GmbH is seeking a SpacePV Integration & Failure Analysis Expert / Scientist / Engineer (m/f/d) to support research and development in space-qualified photovoltaic technologies at its Center for Innovation, Technology and Quality in Thalheim near Leipzig/Halle/Berlin.

The role focuses on the integration, reliability, qualification, and failure mechanisms of solar cells operating under extreme space conditions. Responsibilities include analyzing radiation exposure, vacuum, thermal cycling, and mechanical stress; investigating radiation-induced degradation; developing degradation models and failure catalogs; and supporting qualification campaigns according to ESA/ECSS standards and JEC recommendations. The position also involves interpreting irradiation and environmental test data, working with external test facilities and certification bodies, and supporting the transition of technologies into qualified, production-ready solutions.

Candidates should have a degree in physics, materials science, engineering, or a related field, with a PhD preferred, plus proven experience in SpacePV or space-grade semiconductor technologies. Very good written and spoken English is required, while German is a plus.
