OUTDOOR NORWAY Job Description
Outdoor Norway is hiring a Sea Kayaking Guide for a full-time seasonal position in Voss, Norway, during May/June/July 2027. The role involves leading guided fjord and sea-kayaking trips for international guests while maintaining safe, enjoyable, and well-organized experiences.
The guide will provide safety briefings and paddling instruction, monitor weather conditions including tides, wind, rain, and air temperature, and follow Outdoor Norway’s operating procedures and safety standards. Responsibilities also include cleaning and drying client paddling equipment, maintaining the base and storage areas, and ensuring vehicles are cleaned and fueled after tours. The role requires engaging with guests, providing information about local culture and history, and conducting tour talks while driving and at viewing points.
Candidates must have a Category B driver’s license with the Taxi Driver License endorsement, excellent spoken and written English, sea-kayaking experience in fjords, and either a whitewater kayak qualification/sea-kayaking certification or at least three years of previous guiding experience. Current first-aid certification including CPR is also required.
Requirements
- Driver's license category B and Taxi Driver License endorsement
- Whitewater kayak qualification/Sea Kayaking certification or at least three years previous guiding experience
- Current first-aid certification including CPR, minimum 16 hours course within the last 3 years
- Excellent spoken and written English skills
- Experience paddling sea kayaks in fjords
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift, load and unload kayaks from a trailer or car roof
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to talk with people from different cultures and backgrounds
