Senior AI Software Engineer (m/f/d) — Koblenz, Germany
Job Description
CompuGroup Medical is looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer to help develop modern healthcare software solutions and AI-native features across its SaaS portfolio. The role covers the full technology stack, including frontend, backend, and DevOps, with a focus on reliable, secure, and scalable cloud-native services.
You will integrate AI and agentic experiences into products using LLMs, retrieval, tool use, and structured workflows. Responsibilities include designing and operating web applications, developing shared AI agents, skills, pipelines and harnesses, improving engineering and AI engineering practices, and collaborating closely with Product Management, UX, Architecture, and Engineering teams. The role also involves understanding healthcare workflows and developing outcome-driven solutions for users.
The position is full-time and based in Koblenz, with mobile work available two days per week and three days on-site. Applicants should have several years of senior full-stack engineering experience, a relevant university degree, strong experience with modern software and cloud technologies, and proven use of AI in software engineering. Fluent German and English are required.
Requirements
- Several years of senior experience in full-stack engineering of modern web applications.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one frontend stack: React or Angular.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one backend stack: Java/Spring Boot or Python.
- Ideally, end-to-end responsibility in a product context.
- Master's or PhD in computer science, software engineering, or a comparable technical field with above-average performance.
- Practical experience with React/Angular, Java Spring Boot, Python, C#, Kafka, Terraform, and Cloud/DevOps environments.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD.
- Experience with LLM tools such as Azure OpenAI, Anthropic SDK, or MCP is a strong plus.
- Proven effective use of AI in software engineering.
- Experience with Claude Code or comparable agentic coding tools is preferred.
- Experience with agents, skills, workflows, AI pipelines, harnesses, and context engineering is preferred.
- Fluent German, spoken and written.
- Fluent English, spoken and written.
