Job Description

Awin is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop advanced analytical and machine learning solutions that support commercial decision-making and improve products used by client-facing teams. The role focuses on areas such as forecasting, recommendation systems, network intelligence, experimentation, and predictive modelling, with responsibility for designing, evaluating, and deploying scalable solutions that deliver measurable business impact.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with Product, Commercial, Engineering, and Data teams to identify opportunities and translate business challenges into data-driven solutions. The position involves establishing success metrics and evaluation frameworks, building end-to-end feature pipelines and machine learning models, developing minimum viable products (MVPs), and ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and suitable for production. The successful candidate will also promote best practices in model development, monitoring, and governance, mentor other data scientists, and contribute to the Data Science roadmap.

Applicants should have at least five years of relevant professional experience, advanced Python skills, experience with data science libraries and Databricks, and a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant quantitative discipline. Strong statistical, analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, and technical leadership skills are expected.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Scientist, or in a similar role
  • Proven experience delivering machine learning and analytical solutions from discovery through deployment and business impact
  • Advanced proficiency in Python
  • Experience with relevant data science libraries, including NumPy, PySpark, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and/or PyTorch
  • Strong experience using Databricks, including Jobs, Asset Bundles, Delta Lake, and MLflow
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to define problems, scope solutions, and communicate outcomes
  • Experience mentoring data scientists or providing technical leadership in a cross-functional team
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Strong statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in machine learning and predictive modelling, including production deployment
  • Experience evaluating and refining models using experimentation, performance metrics, and business outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and prioritise work
  • Collaborative approach across Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Data teams
