Job Description
Google is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack, for its CodeAI team in Munich. The role focuses on developing developer-facing AI agents and technical infrastructure designed to improve productivity across the software development lifecycle.
The position involves leading technical strategy and roadmaps for AI agents, designing scalable and low-latency agentic infrastructure, and building evaluation frameworks and feedback loops to improve model quality and performance. The engineer will work across the full technology stack, including client runtimes, IDE internals, backend microservices, distributed systems, and internal developer environments.
Responsibilities also include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions; guiding engineers through complex technical challenges; and advocating for system reliability, performance benchmarking, and developer experience.
The position is full-time and requires in-person interviews in most instances. The advertised salary in Germany is €190,000–€194,000 per year, plus a 25% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience in software development
- 7 years of experience with full stack development
- Back-end experience with Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases
- Front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or equivalent
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products
- Experience building developer-facing products or tools
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field — preferred
- 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms — preferred
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction — preferred
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects — preferred
